Mission of the Concert

全力传承中华传统戏曲文化，努力完成海外华人天然使命，将黄梅戏艺术在海外进行传承与推广。是继2021年《国际黄梅戏推选活动》后的延伸，为文化展示的系列之二，也是海外首届黄梅戏元素主题的演唱会。
To introduce the beautiful Huangmei Opera to a larger audience in the US, to inherit and promote the art of Huangmei Opera overseas. It is an extension of the 2021 "International Huangmei Opera Audition", the second in a series of cultural exhibitions, and the first overseas concert themed with Huangmei Opera elements.

陈小芳：旅美著名黄梅戏表演艺术家，北美小芳黄梅艺术团团长及创始人。师承严派，原安徽省黄梅戏剧院著名演员，1999 年移居美国新泽西州，曾任中国青联委员，曾主演《天仙配》七仙女、《柯老二入党》二嫂等舞台剧，曾主演黄梅戏电影《母老虎上轿》、电视连续剧 《赊官》。《天仙配》中七仙女为其成名代表作，有“小严凤英”、“第二 代七仙女”等美誉。曾获中国首届黄梅戏演员广播大奖赛、全国黄梅戏电视大奖赛双“十佳演员”安徽省戏曲青年演员比赛一等奖等荣誉，曾荣获美国新泽西州文化历史艺术委员会 2017、2018、2019 和 2021 年民间艺术传承奖励。近年来，中国驻纽约总领馆，《人民日报》海外版及中国新闻社都曾对她及艺术团活动做过专题报道。
由她创办的北美小芳黄梅艺术团(Xiaofang Huangmei Arts Academy ) 成立于 2015 年 8 月，是在美国新泽西州州政府正式注册海外唯一具有规模和代表性的 501c(3)非营利黄梅戏艺术表演团体。

Ms. Xiaofang Chen is a famous Huangmei Opera performer in the United States.  She is the lead and founder of Xiaofang Huangmei Arts Academy. Trained professionally with the Yan Style Huangmei Performance, Ms. Chen was previously an outstanding performing artist at Huangmei Drama Theater in Anhui Province. Before she moved to New Jersey, USA in 1999, she served as a member of the China Youth Federation and starred in stage plays such as "Fairy Couple","Ke Lao Er Joins the Party", and other stage plays. She starred in Huangmei Opera movies "The Tigress on the Sedan" and the TV series "Officer on Credit". Ms.Chen was recognized as "Little Yan Fengying" and "Second Generation Seventh Fairy". The Seventh Fairy in "Fairy Couple" is her most influential representative work. She won the First Prize in China's first Huangmei Opera Actor Broadcasting Grand Prix, the National Huangmei Opera Television Grand Prix "Top Ten Performers" of Anhui Opera Young Actor Competition. She won the United States Folk Art Inheritance Award by New Jersey Culture, History and Arts Committee from 2017 to 2021. In recent years, the Chinese Consulate General in New York, the overseas edition of the People's Daily and China News Agency have made special reports and interviews of Ms. Chen and the activities of her art troupe.

Xiaofang Huangmei Arts Academy, founded by Ms. Chen, was established in August 2015. It is the only representative 501c(3) non-profit organization for Huangmei Opera performing art officially registered with the state government of New Jersey, USA. Ms. Xiaofang Chen serves as the head and artistic director of the art troupe.

国家一級导演：王晓鷹（特邀） 中国国家一级导演，文学博士，中央戏剧学院博士生导师。中国戏剧家协会副主席，国家话剧院导演，原常务副院长。导演过话剧《兰陵王》，歌剧《这里黎明静悄悄》，音乐剧《断桥》，黄梅戏《半个月亮》，越剧《赵氏孤儿》，评剧《半江清澈半江红》，秦腔《关中晓月》等多部作品，并多次获得全国性大奖。

Xiaoying Wang (invited): Chinese National Class-I Director, Ph.D. in Literature, and Ph.D. supervisor of the Central Academy of Drama, China. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Chinese Dramatists Association, Director and former executive Vice President of the National Theater. He has directed the drama "The King of Lanling", the opera "The Dawns Here Are Quiet", the musical "Broken Bridge", the Huangmei Opera "Half Moon", the Shaoxing Opera "The Orphan of the Zhao Family", the Pingju Opera "Half the River is Clear and Half is Red", Qin Opera "Moon at the Dawn of Guanzhong" etc., and won many national awards.

国家一级作曲：徐志远（特邀） 中国国家一级作曲，文化部优秀专家，作品涉足黄梅戏舞台剧音乐剧电视电影，秦腔杂技剧，话剧五音戏，湘剧泗州戏，还有闽剧粤剧赣南采茶戏等，获得电影华表奖，电视剧飞天奖，文化音乐创作奖等多项国家级大奖。

Zhiyuan Xu (invited): Chinese National Class-I Composer, an Outstanding Expert of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. His works include Huangmei Opera, stage show, musicals, TV, movies, Qin Opera, acrobatic show, drama, Wuyin Opera, Hunan Opera, Sizhou Opera, Fujian Opera, Cantonese Opera, and Gannan Tea-picking Opera, etc. He won many national awards such as the Huabiao Film Award, the Feitian Award for TV Dramas, and the Cultural and Music Creation Award.

张椿和：中国国家一级指挥，40余年专业生涯，毕业于中央音乐学院和欧洲指挥艺术大师班，曾任天津交响乐团和专业合唱团指挥。来美后曾担任纽约艺术交响乐团副指挥，现任乡音合唱团，爱迪生爱乐乐团艺术总监及指挥。

Chunhe Zhang:  A Chinese National Class-I conductor,  Mr. Chunhe Zhang, graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music and the Master Class in Conducting Art in Europe. He served as a conductor for the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra and many other professional symphony orchestras and professional choirs and has over 40 years of career experience. Since coming to the United States in 1998, he has served as the associate conductor of the New York Arts Symphonic Ensemble, conductor for many choirs, as well as the artistic director and conductor for numerous music concerts. Since 2017, he has been the artistic director and conductor for the Edison Chinese Chorus, Edison Philharmonic Orchestra, and other musical ensembles.

郭雅志：著名管乐演奏家，业界公认世界最好的唢呐演奏家之一，享有“天下第一吹”美称。毕业于中央音乐学院并留校任教，曾在美哈佛伯克利等校举办讲座及音乐会。出任过香港中乐团唢呐首席，2013年获香港年度最佳艺术家奖。录有十几张个人专辑，现居美，创办并担任“美国世界音乐学院”院长。

Yazhi Guo: A virtuoso of wind instruments and an inventor of musical instruments, Mr. Yazhi Guo is considered the world’s premier Suona virtuoso. Graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music, Mr. Guo stayed on to teach at the Conservatory. He was appointed as the principal Suona by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and was the recipient of the annual Hong Kong Artist of the Year Award. While pursuing his further education at Berklee College of Music, Mr. Guo gave lectures and concerts at many American universities such as Harvard University and Berklee College of Music. Being once the Grand Prize winner of the New York Pro Musicians International Award, Mr. Guo co-founded the American Academy of World Music and is now its first president. He has not only recorded dozens of solo albums but also modernized the traditional Hulusi into multi-pipe Hulusi, and traditional Guzheng into tonal transposable Guzheng.

楊玲：著名京剧昆曲表演艺术家，原天津京剧院演员，美国东方戏剧艺术家协会会长。京剧师承京剧演员张重华，昆曲师承昆曲演员仝秀蘭，多次在林肯中心，美国各大高校受邀演出，其主讲的中国戏曲工作室已纳入哥伦比亚大学的招生宣传。

Michelle Ling Yang: An established performing artist of Beijing Opera and Kunqu, Ms. Yang is now the president and founder of Oriental Operatic Artists Association in America. She received Beijing Opera and Kunqu performance education at Tianjin Institute of Performing Arts in China and performed several years with the nationally leading Tianjin Beijing Opera House taking the lead roles.  During her career, she earned many renowned awards and prizes in Beijing Opera and appeared in Chinese movies and TV series. Ms. Yang has been performing and hosting events in Chinese traditional performing arts at Lincoln Center, Essex Peabody Museum, Freer and Sackler Galleries, Columbia University, Yale University, Princeton University, Brown University and New York University, etc. since she came to the United States.

首届国际黄梅戏推选活动的十佳和十优的获奖者、新泽西州多个知名文艺社团（乡音合唱团、新泽西医生艺术团、紫竹民乐团、新州歌舞会）、新泽西州宾州加州纽约州犹他州伊利诺州等全美各地的黄梅戏爱好者齐聚新州共同参演。小芳艺术团全球各地成员（包括美国，加拿大，澳大利亚）也积极参与了线上及线下的幕后工作。

Winners of the top ten Best Performers and top ten Excellent Performers of the first International Huangmei Opera Audition, multiple well-known cultural and artistic societies in New Jersey (Edison Chinese Chorus,, New Jersey Physician Art Troupe, Zizhu Ensemble, and NJ GWH Club) and Huangmei Opera lovers from all over the United States including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, New York, Utah, Illinois, etc. will perform in New Jersey together. Members of Xiaofang Arts Academy around the world (including the United States, Canada, and Australia) also work diligently both online and offline behind-the-scenes.

演唱会内容丰富，形式多样，有空前强大的艺术家阵容。节目以黄梅戏为主融入多种元素，有传统現代剧目、服饰秀水袖舞、合唱及英文版，还有器乐演奏等。既传承名段名曲又突破以往风格，可谓是一场绝佳的黄梅主题文化大餐。

The concert is rich in content, diverse in form, and has an unprecedentedly strong lineup of distinguished artists. Huangmei Opera is performed in various ways such as traditional, modern, costume show, sleeve dance, choir, and rap in English. There are also programs presented by special guests. It not only inherits the famous masterpieces but also reaches beyond with innovations. It can be described as an excellent Huangmei-themed cultural feast.
